Dragone "Iron Range" 2021
~by Alex Dragone of Dragone Classic Motorcars
Old car meets are just not the same as they used to be and swap meets and flea markets just don't have the great parts and automobilia that we used to see show up. This past Saturday, June 5th was only our second time doing a swap meet and show like this and it was a great success, certainly worthy of carrying the name "The Iron Range." Everything from porcelain signs, pre war toys to early literature, early motorcycles, sports car parts and brass lamps and accessories were present. Some cars from the early days of motoring made an appearance including Dick Shappy's big 1917 Pierce Arrow Model 66, Bill and Allison Blancks 1910 Knox roadster, Mike Deangelis's 1911 Cadillac Touring and quite a few other prewar cars.
Some great post war sports cars such as BMWs, Ferraris, and Austin Healeys and other interesting cars were also present including all of the cars in our showroom for everyone to enjoy. Other friends such as Joe Lanahan brought his huge 1903 Hit and Miss engine which ran for the entire day and Wayne Carini brought his Lancia Delivery. We even sold a few cars including a great one owner from new 1967 Corvette L71 Big Block 4-Speed Roadster and an amazing 1 family owned 1925 Harley Davidson JD with amazing patina and history! Over 1000 people were in attendance midday and around 200 cars attended and filled the property! Overall this was an awesome day and very reminiscent of the old days of car collecting. We plan to do another "Iron Range" event in the fall so if you missed this one, be sure to come to the next!
