This unique speedster, built by a brass-era enthusiast over several years and
completed in 2023, is powered by a 697ci Type L T-head inline-six from the
Wisconsin Motor Manufacturing Company. Based on a Mitchell Model S chassis, it
features custom speedster bodywork finished in red with brass accents. Key
features include a three-speed manual transmission, rear drum brakes, 26” body-
color wood-spoke wheels, dual spark plugs per cylinder, a Stromberg updraft
carburetor, and electric starter. The car's interior includes gray leather
bucket seats, a Corbin Brown tachometer, and a Jones 60-mph speedometer with
300 miles on the odometer.
The car's frame and body are adorned with “Wisconsin Special” script, number 10
graphics, and brass radiator shell, acetylene headlights, and a Neverout
kerosene taillamp. A brass-fitted dashboard houses a range of gauges and
accessories, while the right-hand-drive cockpit features barrel-back seats,
brass hardware, and a Pyrene fire extinguisher. The engine, overhauled during
the build with new pistons and stainless-steel valves, has a 697ci displacement
achieved through a bore increase. The car was purchased by its current owner in
April 2024 and is now offered in Providence, Rhode Island, with transferable New
York registration describing it as a 1910 Wisconsin.
